Low blood sugar despite only 1 unit of insulin in 24 hours (Day 8 of Water Fast)

Disturbed I wake up at 3:23 am…sweaty and hungry. I am surprised my glucometer registers 1.7 mmol/l (30.6mg/dl). A week ago, when I was this low, I was unconscious of most of my actions. This time I felt fine mentally. Yes, ketosis has taken over…

The only insulin in my system was 1 unit of Tresiba (taken yesterday morning). Since then my blood sugars ranged from 3 mmol/l(54 mg/dl) to 5.7 mmol/l(102.6 mg/dl) the day before; so no corrections with Humalog. I still have taken no addition insulin and yet, right now, I am 4.2 mmol/l(75.6 mg/dl). No insulin whatsoever for 30 hours. I’m surprised and delighted to not have to stick myself with a needle.

John said for the last 2 days of this (so far) 7 day nettle tea fast, I had an infection smell. Did I kill something off? The MAP bacetria that many suspect causes diabetes? We will see… Tresiba can last for 42 hours, so I just may be hyper-insulin sensitive.

Otherwise, overall, not much has changed on what I have been experiencing on this 10 day fast. Only time will tell if I’m approaching a cure for T1D.
