A Diabetic Dharma reader, J. H., wrote in reply to 5 Reasons Mercury May Contribute to Type-1 Diabetes:
Fascinating to hear this, I had a mouthful of mercury fillings as a child, pre-t1 diabetes. (All replaced as an adult, at great cost!) This is an avenue I’ve not seen explored before.
It’s an avenue we’ve only started exploring in the last ten months. It’s fantastic that you’ve had the mercury fillings removed. But I wouldn’t assume the problem is taken care of. Mercury from dental fillings may have been slowly making its way from your teeth to your liver. From there, who knows where the body stores what it can’t excrete.
Furthermore, simply having fillings removed – dentists have told me – can release more mercury into the body than just leaving them alone.
Plus, think of all the other places one can absorb mercury from: Medications, vaccines, seafood, electronics and pesticides. Of course, you can eat organic, ventilate rooms with electronics, skip the tuna sandwich, and avoid medications. But then there’s then there’s the air we breathe…
Here’s what the Union of Concerned Scientists has to say:
A typical uncontrolled coal plants emits approximately 170 pounds of mercury each year. Activated carbon injection technology can reduce mercury emissions by up to 90 percent when combined with baghouses. ACI technology is currently found on just 8 percent of the U.S. coal fleet.
The situation is even worse in Asian countries. Their air is our air. Who can stop breathing?
I think we can all safely assume we all suffer from some degree of mercury poisoning (diabetic or not). Whether mercury alone is the cause of type-1 diabetes, I doubt it. But removing it from the body may be a prerequisite to healing the pancreas. If nothing else, detoxifying mercury has been reported to alleviate a long list of other symptoms ranging from nerve pain to brain fog.

P.P.S. One of the best ways we know to detox mercury is with a near infrared sauna. We purchased a four-bulb hanging unit. It sets up nicely in a closet or bathroom. You can find out more about the Sauna Fix at Go Healthy Next.
