Many people with autoimmune diseases like type-1 diabetes know that mercury dental fillings are to be avoided and removed at all costs. What surprised me and my wife Nicole when we first looked into getting her 11 fillings removed was that root canals may be a far greater health risk.
“The root canal remains the sacred cow of ‘modern’ dentistry,” writes lawyer and cardiologist, Dr. Thomas Levy , “yet Hal [Huggin]’s work, bolstered by the laboratory analysis and expertise of Dr. Boyd Haley, has shown clearly that few things threaten anybody’s health as much as a root canal. Much of the mercury fight has finally been won, but the good that Hal has done for all humankind will be even more enormous once the root canal procedure becomes but a footnote on the infectious and toxic annals of dentistry and never gets inflicted on a patient again.”
In 2000, the American Association of Endodontists published a paper attempting to defend root canals against information people find “surfing the Web”. (Actually, I acquired most my information from reading books written by dentists.)
While omitting details, the paper acknowledges the “faulty science” of Dr. Weston A. Price working in the 1930s for the Mayo Clinic. Price conducted thousands of experiments showing that diseases could be transferred from humans to rabbits by extracting root canals and placing them under the rabbit’s skin.
The paper claims, however, that “decades of research contradict the findings of Dr. Price.” Yet the paper fails to tell us where we can find any of this research.
Dr. Hal Huggins explains, during a lecture at the Price-Pottenger Foundation , that: “The American Dental Association says: ‘This has been investigated by dentistry and by some of the most sophisticated people in medicine and found that all of Price’s work was wrong.’ Okay. Let’s look and see who these medical people are who did this meticulous research. I looked into that. How many did I find? How many are listed in there? Zero. That’s not even part of the truth. No research was ever done to prove Price wrong. Why? Because a researcher is not going to be dumb enough to do it. And, because Price was not wrong. Price had more documentation than anyone has ever put together on something like this.”
In Uninformed Consent, Huggins states that bacteria originating in a root canal get trapped in kidney tissue, poisoning the entire body. Judging by the sores that appear on the skin behind Nicole’s right kidney, I’d wager this is true.

P.S. The above article is an extract from our appeal to raise funds for removal all Nicole’s toxic dental work. The 6,000 word appeal is packed full of detailed information I think anyone with fillings, extractions, bridges, crowns and, especially, root canals (and even more especially if you have type-1 diabetes and “complications”) should read. You can access it in its entirety at www.kidneykarma.com.
P.P.S. I also highly recommend reading Dr. Hal Huggins’ second book, Uninformed Consent: The Hidden Dangers in Dental Care. It’s available from Amazon.com, Amazon.ca and Amazon.co.uk.
